Speaking Life Into Others: CREDULOUS

CREDULOUS

A couple of days ago while laying in bed, I heard the word, "credulous."  It was repeated to me twice.  I then asked the Lord, "Father what are You trying to say to me?"  I told Him, "I don't know what credulous means."

I called the English department at Ohio State University.  I asked the lady who answered the phone, "How do you spell credulous?"  I then asked her the meaning of the word.  She said that it meant, "people believe what people say even though they are not telling the truth."

I said to her, "Talk to me like I'm two years old."  "How would you explain this word to a two year old".  She laughed and said, "You believe anything anyone tells you."

The Father put it in my spirit to call two friends and ask if this word was something they could relate to or if they knew of anyone in their lives that could relate?

Both parties confirmed that this word was evident in their lives as well as the lives of their friends and relatives.

After further studying, I found additional meanings of credulous.  People who are credulous are "easily deceived."  They are also gullible and undiscerning."

Atheist believe that Christians are credulous.  They believe that we are undiscerning and gullible.  They feel Christians "believe anything anyone tells us when it comes to the word of God".  To the atheist I would say, "We are neither gullible or undiscerning."  We simply believe II Timothy 3:16, "The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right (Messianic Edition of The Living Bible).

II Peter 1:16 "For we have not been telling you fairy tales when we explained to you the power of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah and His coming again.  (Messianic Edition of the Living Bible)."

We as believers in the Messiah, are people of faith. Faith is confidence in the testimony of another.  The Bible tells us in Colossians 1:23 to be grounded in faith.  Faith is not being credulous. We are not being deceived.  Hebrews 11:1 "What is faith?"  "It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen."  "It is the certainty that what we hoped for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead."

When I was in the sixth grade, I went to visit an aunt in Cleveland.  She asked me how I was doing in school.  I told her I was doing fine but that I was having a problem with history.  She told me to pray and to keep saying, "I know I am going to pass history."  "I know I am going to pass history."  Repeating this over and over was not going to allow me to pass this course."  I had to put my faith in God and study.

According to Genesis 21:6-7 Sarah was being a bit credulous when she was told that she was going to have a baby in her old age. She was not going to be "easily deceived."  God kept His promise and proved to her that she was not being deceived.

God has kept many promises that He has made to me.  Sometimes I felt as if they were not going to happen.  I was not going to be credulous.  I knew that he would keep His word.

To my brothers and sisters in Adonai, do not believe the lies of the atheist.  They do not know anything about our Father.  They do not belong to Him.  I will always put my hope and trust in Adonai and I pray that you will too.
